1. Overview

At RJM Car Sales NW Ltd., we aim to be open, honest, and fair in every vehicle sale. As a small independent used car dealer, we comply fully with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which gives customers important legal protections when purchasing a vehicle.

This policy explains your rights and our procedures regarding refunds, returns, repairs, and cancellations.

2. Your Legal Rights

When you purchase a vehicle from us, the car must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality (taking account of age, mileage, price, and description)
  • Fit for purpose
  • As described
Your legal rights apply regardless of any warranty.

3. 30‑Day Right to Reject

If your vehicle develops a serious fault within 30 days of purchase and that fault was present (or developing) at the time of sale, you have the right to reject the vehicle for a full refund.

Conditions:

  • The fault must not be due to misuse, accident damage, or normal wear and tear.
  • You must notify us as soon as the fault occurs.
  • You must stop using the vehicle once a rejection is requested.

Refunds will be processed using the original payment method where possible.

4. Repairs or Replacement (After 30 Days)

If a fault occurs after 30 days but within 6 months of purchase, we have one opportunity to:

  • Repair the vehicle, or
  • Offer a replacement (if available)

If the repair fails, takes an unreasonable amount of time, or the fault reappears, you may be entitled to a partial or full refund, which may be adjusted for usage.

5. Wear and Tear

Please note that used vehicles will naturally show signs of wear and tear, especially considering age and mileage. The following are not classed as faults:

  • Brake pads, discs, clutch wear
  • Tyres and wiper blades
  • Minor cosmetic imperfections
  • Items identified and agreed at point of sale

6. Faults Not Covered

Refunds or repairs will not be offered for:

  • Damage caused after purchase
  • Accidental or misuse damage
  • Failure to maintain the vehicle
  • Faults caused by third‑party repairs or modifications

7. Distance & Online Sales

If you purchase a vehicle at a distance (online or over the phone, without viewing), you may have the right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

Please note:
  • You must notify us in writing
  • The vehicle must be returned in the same condition
  • You may be responsible for return costs and loss in value due to use
